👋 Introduction

Welcome to Intro Skipper! This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our browser extension. We've designed this policy to be clear, transparent, and easy to understand.

The bottom line: We don't collect, store, process, or share any of your personal data. This extension operates entirely on your device without sending any information to our servers or third parties.

🚫 Information We Don't Collect

We want to be crystal clear about what we DON'T do:

  • Personal information (name, email, address, phone number)
  • Browsing history or website activity
  • What you watch on streaming platforms
  • Usage analytics or statistics
  • Device information or IP addresses
  • Cookies or tracking data
  • Location data

⚙️ How the Extension Works

Intro Skipper operates entirely within your browser:

🎯 Detection Process

The extension scans web pages for specific UI elements (like "Skip Intro" buttons) using predefined patterns. This happens locally in your browser.

⚡ Automatic Action

When a skip button is detected, the extension automatically clicks it for you. No data about this action is recorded or transmitted.

💾 Settings Storage

Your preferences are stored locally using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device.

💾 Local Data Storage

The only data stored by Intro Skipper includes:

  • Extension Settings: Whether the extension is enabled/disabled
  • Service Preferences: Which streaming services you want to use the extension on
  • Skip Preferences: What types of content to skip (intros, credits, ads)

Important: This data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's sync storage. If you have Chrome sync enabled, these settings may sync across your devices through Google's servers, but we have no access to this data.

🔗 Third-Party Services

Intro Skipper does not integrate with any third-party analytics, tracking, or data collection services. We don't use:

  • Google Analytics or similar tracking services
  • Crash reporting services
  • Advertisement networks
  • External APIs or databases

🔐 Permissions Explained

When you install Intro Skipper, Chrome requests certain permissions. Here's what each permission is used for:

Active Tab

Allows the extension to interact with the streaming website you're currently viewing to detect and click skip buttons.

Storage

Used to save your extension settings locally on your device.

Specific Website Access

The extension only runs on supported streaming platforms (Netflix, Crunchyroll, etc.) as specified in the manifest.

🔓 Open Source Transparency

Intro Skipper is completely open source. This means:

  • You can view our complete source code on GitHub
  • Security researchers can audit our code for privacy compliance
  • You can verify that we don't collect any data by reading the code yourself
  • The community can contribute improvements and security fixes

📝 Changes to This Privacy Policy

  • We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Significant changes will be announced on our GitHub repository
  • We'll maintain our commitment to not collecting personal data
